The Sierra de la Giganta is a mountain range of Baja California Sur state, in northwestern Mexico.

Geography

The volcanic plateau extends along a region of the southern Baja California Peninsula, on the eastern side parallel and close to the coast of the Gulf of California—Sea of Cortez. The range runs from west of Loreto southwards to northwest of La Paz.

The Sierra de la Giganta is one of the mountain ranges in the Peninsular Ranges system, which extend 1,500 km (930 mi) from Southern California, through Baja California state, to the southern tip of Baja California Sur state and the Baja California Peninsula.

Natural history

The xeric flora found in the Sierra de la Giganta in of the Baja California Desert ecoregion, of the Deserts and xeric shrublands Biome.
