Steven Lyon (born April 10, 1961 in Santa Barbara, California) has had a career as an actor, model, and photographer. He currently resides in New York and Paris.

Modeling

Lyon began his career in the early 1980s, modeling for numerous fashion labels. He was the face of Claude Montana's and Jean Paul Gaultier's Fall/Winter campaigns in 1985.[20][21]
In 1989, he was part of the campaign for Gianni Versace's perfume. [17]. In the same year, he was featured in Nikos Apostolopoulos campaigns, shot by photographer Victor Skrebneski [19]. He was the face of Trussardi campaigns for six years [29]. Lyon was shot by Paolo Roversi for the Cerruti campaign in 1990 [30]. Steven worked for Versace for a number of years, modeling in their fashion shows and campaigns. The Gianni Versace Couture Spring/Summer 1993 campaign featured Steven alongside Naomi Campbell. [31]
He has twice appeared in the Chicago film festival posters which were also shot by Victor Skrebneski [24].

Acting

In 1987, Steven was cast in a lead role in the Paramount picture Campus Man in the role of “Brett Wilson". Brett is an Olympic diver persuaded by Morgan Fairchild to pose for an all-male sports calendar [4]. Interview magazine featured an article on Lyon subsequent to the release of the film [25]. He was also featured as "Hunk of the Month" in Teen Beat's September 1987 issue. [27].

Lyon had a leading role in the 1987 comedy Valet Girls directed by Rafal Zielinski.

In 2013, Lyon appeared in a featured role in The Family (2013 film) starring Robert De Niro and directed Luc Besson.[5]

Photography

Lyon began photography in LA in 1998 and shortly thereafter he moved to Paris in 1999. He has been a contributor to a range of magazines including Vanity Fair, GQ Italy [13], GQ Germany [14], Brazilian GQ, Vogue Russia, ZOO, 125, SOUP [8], S magazine, and Treats Magazine [22].

Lyon is an advocate of traditional photography and shooting on film. Currently, Lyon focuses on fine art and film directing.

Exhibitions

Steven's work has been exhibited in Europe and in 2004 Photo Magazine and Fujifilm sponsored an exhibition of his work at the Plaza Athenée in Paris.

Wildlife conservation

Lyon is a wildlife conservationist and founded Lyonheartlove, a non-profit organization dedicated to making documentary films in support endangered or threatened wildlife. Lyon is producing “Something That Matters,” a documentary film that focuses on the poaching crisis of rhinoceroses throughout South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana and Tanzania.[citation needed]
