Storsylen is the highest mountain in the Sylan mountain range. It is located in the municipality of Tydal, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, less than 100 metres (330 ft) west of the border with Sweden. The 1,762-metre (5,781 ft) tall mountain lies about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) east of the lake Nesjøen. To climb the mountain from the south, the route is characterized as scrambling, from the north it is an easy hike.

Name

The first element is stor meaning "big" and the last element is the finite singular form of syl which means "awl".
