Sunshine Factory was a Christian children's show that aired originally in 1984 and was syndicated nationally. The children who starred in the show would leave the real world and visit the Sunshine Factory by traveling through a psychedelic portal located behind a bookcase in P.J.'s fix-it shop; the Factory was inhabited by hand puppets who would teach religious lessons through experiences.

Characters

P.J. - The lead character. The entrance to the Sunshine Factory is in his Fix-It shop, and he's usually the character who takes the kids into and out of the Sunshine Factory.
Ele - A female adult who also lives in the real world; essentially P.J.'s sidekick. Possibly works in P.J.'s Fix-It shop? She usually took the kids into the Sunshine Factory when P.J. wasn't around.
Crabtree - A grumpy, sour man who lives in the boiler room of the Sunshine Factory with Smudge. He likes to see P.J. and the other characters in trouble or the victim of problems.
Smudge - An unkempt black cat who lives in the boiler room with Crabtree. He also takes some pleasure from the misfortune of P.J. and the other characters but is not as mean spirited as Crabtree.
Clarence - A bookworm who lives in a tree in the world of the Sunshine Factory.
Penelope - Clarence's sidekick, a female bird who lives in the same tree.
Computer - The Sunshine Factory's talking computer. It usually evades questions asked by different characters, especially the Professor.
The Professor - A professor who lives in the Sunshine Factory. He also fixes things and usually works on intellectual pursuits. He'd ask the computer a question and usually not get the answer he wanted.
Mime - Unnamed mime who appears in a segment of the show & sometimes interacts with characters in these segments.
