Then this show started its re-run on Sony Pal from 2 November 2015 at 1 pm and 8 pm everyday. Plot summary

Gokuldham Society is a residential Society in Mumbai in which six Indian families, respectively headed by Jethalal Champaklal Gada (from Kutchh), Taarak Mehta (from [Rajasthan]]), Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide (from Maharashtra), Dr. Hansraj Hathi (from Bihar), Sardar Roshan Singh Harjeet Singh Sodhi (from Punjab) and Krishnan Subramaniam Iyer (from Tamil Nadu and wife from West Bengal), a bachelor Patrakar Popatlal Pandey (from Madhya Pradesh) and a teenager Pinku live. There are also other individual characters including Sundarlal, Abdul, Natwarlal Prabhashankar Udhaiwala, Bagheshwar Dadukh Udhaiwala and Bawri. The members of the society and other characters have a good psychological attachment of love and sympathy for one another that makes them the members of a greater family. In the episodes of the show, the families are shown to live a life that a typical Indian family lives, but the characters, more often than not Jethalal, get into petty troubles cropping up from daily life activities that intensify in a comical manner, giving rise to laughter among the viewers. Humour in the show is further heightened by the individual quirks of the characters. Whatever be the nature of the problem that a member of the Society encounters, all the other members stand by them through thick and thin to extend every possible help. In an episode, the cessation of the problem that a character faces is usually followed by a moral commentary by Taarak Mehta meant for all the characters of the show as well as the viewers.

The episodes of the show suggest the contemporary state of affairs of the Indian society, by the means of comedy. The show, hence, has to be in keeping with the existing situations prevailing in the Indian society. Till 2014, the episodes featured stories of ingenuous activities of the characters in which they dealt with simple yet humourous situations. In the subsequent time, the stories were adapted to moderately sober nature while keeping the comedic element undiminished. Unlike in the older episodes of the show telecast from 2008 to 2013 in which activities of the characters were limited to naive behavioural absurdity, the stories of the later phase have been raised to types in which gloomy familial problems, upset in relationships etc. are shown. The change in the show is more evident in the roles of the children, as a whole known as "Tapu Sena", who are not shown as playful children performing childlike merriment any more, but are projected as grown up and mature adults.[citation needed]
