The timberman beetle (Acanthocinus aedilis) is a beetle found in woodlands in Europe, Russia and Central Asia. The antennae of the males are four times the length of their bodies and are extended, in a manner resembling calipers, when the male alights on the felled trunks of pines - a habit which has led to the name of "timberman".
