In the sphenoid bone, behind the chiasmatic groove is an elevation, the tuberculum sellae (or the tubercle of sella turcica). A variable slight to prominent median elevation forming the posterior boundary of the chiasmatic groove and the anterior boundary of the hypophysial fossa.
