The Field Elm cultivar Ulmus minor 'Picturata' was listed in the Simon-Louis (Metz, France), catalogue of 1880, p. 66.

Description

The tree was described as similar to 'Variegata' but with larger leaves.[1]

Cultivation

Probably extinct in Europe. Introduced to Australia, the tree was marketed in the early 20th century by the former Gembrook Nursery near Melbourne; it is not known whether the tree survives there.

Synonymy

  • Ulmus campestris f. fol. picturatis: Dippel, Handb. Laubh, 2: 25, 1892, described as having leaves spotted white.
