Welcome to Infogalactic: the planetary knowledge core! We know you will contribute greatly. Please read the editors' guidelines. Have fun! Crew (talk) 23:07, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Do you need privileges to import pages? How many pages are you transferring from Wikipedia on average? --Crew (talk) 02:08, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Not counting files, maybe 2-3 a week. Sure, import privileges would be helpful. --Thales (talk) 02:48, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

You should be able to import now. Try it and let me know if it doesn't work. No need to tell me if it does, I will see it in the recent changes. -- Crew (talk) 03:13, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
I don't think I can, at least I can't find the 'import' button/link. (Also, what are these "This edit has not yet been patrolled" icons I'm now seeing?) --Thales (talk) 03:27, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Hmmm, it is under Special Pages and right down the bottom under Page Tools, on the Right hand side. Let me check more carefully. The other thing you don't need to worry about. Patrolling is a Wikipedia thing. -- Crew (talk) 03:33, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Not seeing it. --Thales (talk) 03:37, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
You may have to log out and log back in. -- Crew (talk) 03:38, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Already tried that. --Thales (talk) 03:39, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Are there two of you? I see a Thales has imported a file. -- Crew (talk) 03:50, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
It's working now. --Thales (talk) 03:51, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

That Bug list entry for the templates was for those templates that give you the weird error. We know what the problem is now, but we still need to fix it in the database. Anyway, good to see you are importing pages. -- Crew (talk) 04:02, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

We do support PDF files

So, I made sure we supported PDF files a while back. If there is some place where we don't I need to look at it. Can you elaborate on why you think PDF files are not supported? -- Crew (talk) 23:32, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Last time I tried, they weren't and I didn't realize that had changed. Thales (talk) 00:26, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Please stop uploading Mitteleuropa_zur_Zeit_der_Staufer.svg

It is causing problems when conversions are asked for. I will have to figure it out, but I have removed it for now. -- Crew (talk) 06:06, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

More info

The MediaWiki code uses convert to convert an svg to png etc formats. On our server that takes on the order of 4 minutes and it looks like the MediaWiki code is timing out and restarting the conversion job over and over again. I have looked at using rsvg-convert (which would require a code change in the MediaWiki code as well) and while it performs well on a Linux VM on my laptop (~30 seconds to convert that image vs 9 minutes for convert from ImageMagik) it is only marginally better on FreeBSD. Don't know why at the moment.

I will keep thinking about how to solve this issue but it is stacked up behind other issues ATM.

Where did you get that file?

-- Crew (talk) 16:13, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

I have created a bug. Should have some time to look into this the week after next. -- Crew (talk) 01:27, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

OK, I think I have fixed the SVG issues. You can go back to uploading SVGs now. I should have time to look at other issues now. -- Crew (talk) 02:35, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Thank you. Keep up the good work. --Idris (talk) 16:41, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
