Vadim Khayms is a senior lecturer[1] at the Institute for Computational and Mathematical Engineering at Stanford University, where he teaches a variety of Computational and Mathematical Engineering (CME) as well as standard engineering (ENGR) courses.[2] He is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics where he serves on the Electric Propulsion Technical Committee.[3]

Pre-Stanford career

Born and raised in Moscow, Russia, Khayms attended kindergarten and elementary school in the city before being placed in a school for mathematically gifted students. He moved to New York City in the United States when he was in the 10th grade, and showing an interest in mathematics and engineering in general, he attended New York University for one year before transferring to MIT. While at MIT, Khayms stayed in Russian House and was known as the "Problem Set Man" or "PS Man" due to his affinity for completing problem sets. Vadim completed two B.S. degrees at MIT in 1995—one in Physics and the other in Aeronautics and Astronautics (known as Courses 8 and 16 at MIT, respectively). In 2000, Khayms received his Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, as well.[4]
