Owned and operated by Windy City Broadcasting, LLC, the station's transmitter is located atop John Hancock Center in The Loop. The station was launched on December 6, 2014, signing on by stunting with Christmas-themed smooth jazz songs before "The Groove" debuted on December 26th at Midnight, signing on with "Chicago Song" by David Sanborn (the same song that ended the smooth jazz formats on WNUA and WLFM.)
