WAKZ (95.9 FM, "95-9 Kiss FM") is a radio station licensed to Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, and serving Youngstown, Ohio. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc.. The station used to air a Rhythmic format but it is shifting back to Top 40. WAKZ competes with WDJQ Q92 (from nearby Canton), WHOT-FM "Hot 101", WQAL "Q-104"(from nearby Cleveland), and WENZ "Z 1079" (also from nearby Cleveland). Another competitor, WRBP "Jamz 101.9", was to change its format in June 2012 due to a change in ownership.[1][2] WAKZ has fellow Kiss FM sister stations in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. WAKZ also has a top 40 sister station as a non-KissFM brand WKDD (from nearby Canton).
