WBZC (88.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a AAA format, licensed to Pemberton, New Jersey, USA. The station serves the Burlington County area. WBZC began broadcasting in the mid-1990s after WXPN in nearby Philadelphia moved from 88.9 FM to its present location of 88.5 FM.

WBZC is owned by Burlington County College (BCC).[1]

Programming

The station serves most of South Jersey and parts of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia. The station's main format is AAA with heavy focus on new alternative mixed with new reggae, edm, and classic cuts from the radio vault.

WBZC also broadcasts Burlington County High School Football games

WBZC has been nominated for several awards including Best U.S. Dance station at the International Music Awards and is a six time finalist at the Philadelphia Achievement In Radio Awards, in which they competed against the major commercial stations. It has since shifted to a AAA presentation, with the Dance/EDM programming being reduced.

Transmitter and translators

In early 2007, the station completed a power upgrade, going from 7.5 kW vertical/350 watts horizontal to 10 kW vertical/470 watts horizontal, with a vertical directional antenna. The transmitter site is a communications tower in Chatsworth, New Jersey, near the intersection of State Route 72 and County Route 563. In addition to the main transmitter, WBZC is relayed by two translators to widen its broadcast area. The W236AF translator is mounted atop the Burlington-Bristol Bridge. The W264BH translator is located atop Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly. Plans to add a third translator in the Cinnaminson area never developed.
