Wesmont Station is a New Jersey Transit (NJT) train station being built as part of the $400 million re-development of a former Curtiss-Wright aircraft engine plant site in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, United States. The station is expected to open in early 2016.

Once completed, Wesmont will be one of two rail stations in Wood-Ridge. NJT's Pascack Valley Line serves the existing Wood-Ridge Station. NJT's Bergen County Line will serve the new Wesmont Station, positioned between Garfield and Rutherford stations, and two stops away from Secaucus Junction.

History

NJT announced plans for the station on June 11, 2008,[1] with the overall re-development of the 70-acre site expected to include over 700 housing units, 130,000 square feet (12,000 m2) of retail and office space, a middle school, and a community center.[2] Construction was scheduled to begin in 2009, with the station due to open in 2011. However, PCB contamination of the land required extensive environmental cleanup.[3] The first residential apartments opened on February 14, 2012.[4][5] The train station had its official groundbreaking on March 11, 2014, with completion projected for late 2015[6][7][8] and passenger service expected for early 2016 along with 330 new parking spaces.[9]
