The white-breasted negrofinch (Nigrita fusconotus)is a very small negrofinch with a rather waxbill-like appearance, a black cap and tail contrast with thee brown back and wings and white under parts. Both sexes are alike but the immature has thee crown, rump and tail browner. It is a common species of estrildid finch found in Africa. It has an estimated global extent of occurrence of 2,700,000 km2.

It lives in forest habitats, commonly found in Angola, Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda. The status of the species is evaluated by the IUCN as being of least concern.
