General William Nelson Hutchinson (1803–1895) was a British Army officer who became General Officer Commanding Western District.

Military career

Hutchinson was commissioned as an ensign in the 46th Regiment of Foot on 10 March 1820.[1] He became acting Governor of Bermuda in November 1846[2] and went on to be General Officer Commanding Western District in October 1859.[3] He was also Colonel of 33rd (The Duke of Wellington's) Regiment from 1863 to 1895.[4] In retirement he patented a navigable balloon.[5]
