Winsford railway station serves the town of Winsford in Cheshire, England.

Winsford is a staffed station located on the former Grand Junction Railway (now the West Coast Main Line), Lua error in Module:Convert at line 452: attempt to index field 'titles' (a nil value). north of Crewe.

Future

The station was involved in plans by GNWR to accommodate services to Manchester, Blackpool and London by upgrading the station dramatically to a Parkway Station and lengthening the platforms, however in June 2014 these plans were axed by GNWR as it was not financially viable for them to do this, local councils are however opposing this as they see the development as a key feature to the towns and local areas economic regenerarion.[citation needed]

History

There have been two serious rail collisions near Winsford; the first in 1948 killed 24, the second in 1962 killed 18. <templatestyles src="Module:Hatnote/styles.css"></templatestyles>

Facilities

Winsford station was upgraded in winter 2010. The upgrade included the installation of help points and electronic arrival/departure boards as well as a departure monitor in the main building.

Services

The station is managed by London Midland, who provide services between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street. Trains call hourly in each direction throughout the week (except Sunday mornings), with a few extra calls at weekday peak times.[1]
