Zambia competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's twelfth appearance at the Olympics, except the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, because of the African boycott.

The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) sent a total of seven athletes to the Games, five men and two women, to compete in four different sports. This was also the youngest delegation in Zambia's Olympic history, with half the team under the age of 23, and many of them were expected to reach their peak in time for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Among the Zambian athletes in the team, backstroke swimmer Zane Jordan only competed at his second Olympics. Tonny Wamulwa was also initially selected to the team, but later withdrew before the opening of the Games because of injuries sustained in a road traffic accident.[1] Sprinter Chauzje Choosha replaced Wamulwa in the team, after she received a spot from the wild card entry. Meanwhile, middle-distance runner Prince Mumba, who made his Olympic comeback after an eight-year absence, became Zambia's flag bearer at the opening ceremony.

Zambia, however, failed to win its first Olympic medal since the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where Samuel Matete won silver for the men's track hurdles.
