The 1964 May 1 Parade was a parade on Red Square in Moscow in honor of International Workers' Day. The parade was inspected by Defense Minister Rodion Malinovsky and it was commanded by the head of the Moscow Garrison General of the army Afanasy Beloborodov. Commanding the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of the USSR was Major General Nikolai Nazarov. On the podium of Lenin's Mausoleum were the leaders of the USSR and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.These leaders included Nikita Khrushchev, Leonid Brezhnev, Mikoyan, Nikolai Podgorny, Mikhail Suslov, Alexei Kosygin and other leaders. Also in attendance were guests and government officials from Algeria and Kenya .It was the 2nd to last May Day parade on Red Square during the Soviet Union's existence.After the parade a festive demonstration was held.[1]
