AVFoundation is a well-known framework with an Objective-C interface, which provides essential services for working with time-based audiovisual media on Apple Operating systems: iOS and OS X.[1] It was first introduced in iOS 4 and has seen significant changes in both iOS 5 and iOS 6. Starting with Mac OS 10.7, it is now the default media framework for the Mac OS platform.[2]
