Abel Brohée

Abel Brohée (1880 – 1 May 1947) was a Belgian Roman Catholic priest, philosopher and canon. He was the founder of the Catholic Association of Belgian Youth and the Jeunesses Catholiques Wallonnes, and co-founder and president of the International Catholic Film Office.

Biography

Doctor in philosophy and professor at the Catholic University of Leuven, he was president of the Léon XIII seminary (Tournai), canon at Tournai Cathedral and secretary of the Apologetic works (1908). He founded the Catholic Association of Belgian Youth in 1921 and later the Jeunesses catholiques Wallonnes. In 1928, he was one of the co-founders of the International Catholic Film Office of which he became president in 1933. He remained the president of this international Catholic film organization, known under the abbreviation O.C.I.C. and which was established in 1933 in Leuven and then in 1936 in Brussels, until his death.
