AirBridgeCargo Airlines, LLC (Russian: ООО «Авиакомпания «ЭйрБриджКарго») is the largest Russian cargo airline and part of Volga-Dnepr Group. It operates scheduled cargo services on routes between Russia, Asia, Europe and North America. All the flights are operated via Moscow hubs in Sheremetyevo International Airport, Domodedovo International Airport, and Vnukovo International Airport.
History
The airline was established in 2003 and started operations on 1 April 2004. It was established by charter freight specialist Volga-Dnepr Group as its scheduled freight arm.[1] April 2004 saw the delivery of one of two Boeing 747-200F freighters being acquired from Alitalia. In May 2004 it started commercial operation on routes from Luxembourg to Beijing and Luxembourg to Shanghai via Moscow and Novosibirsk.The second Boeing 747-200 commenced scheduled services in October 2004. Airbridge Cargo began services to Nagoya and Hong Kong after it got its third Boeing 747F in 2005.[1] + The company entered the scheduled cargo market in May 2004 when the first AirBridgeCargo branded Boeing 747 made its inaugural commercial flight. This milestone for the Group was the realization of two years or preliminary work to build the airlines’s fleet, network, management and personnel under its Russian Scheduled Cargo Operation Development Strategy.
In November 2006 AirBridge Cargo received its own air operator's certificate.[1]
The airline was several times recognized at the largest cargo carrier at Frankfurt airport (2009, 2010, 2011), and also was recognized by prizes as Schiphol Aviation Awards (2012).
In 2012 AirBridgeCargo was the first among Russian cargo airlines to start to operate crosspolar flights on the Hong Kong – Chicago route with stopover in Krasnoyarsk. Such routes allow savings on fuel and reduce flight time by 15% compared with flights routed via Sheremetyevo.
Corporate affairs
The head office is located in Building 4 of the Krylatsky Hills Business Park in Krylatskoye District, Western Administrative Okrug, Moscow, Russia.[2][3]
Destinations
The scheduled route network covers three continents and includes 20 destinations in 11 countries. The airline performs scheduled flights from cities in Asia such as Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Tokyo, Seoul, to major European hubs such as Frankfurt and Amsterdam, as well as from Amsterdam to Chicago (USA). At present, the AirBridgeCargo route network in Europe includes Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Zaragoza, Leipzig, Milan, Paris, Helsinki, Ekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk, and Luxembourg for maintenance of their aircraft. From 9 May 2014, the airline introduced direct flights to Munich.[4] On 3 September 2015, the airline commenced operations to Singapore, making it the first dedicated freight link between Singapore and Moscow.[5]
