The Alpine musk deer (Moschus chrysogaster) is a species of musk deer. It occurs in the highlands of central China, south and west to the Himalayas in India, Nepal and Bhutan. Two subspecies are recognized:

Records from the Himalayan foothills are now considered a separate species, the Himalayan musk deer.

Moschus chrysogaster is the state animal of Uttarakhand.[2]
