Cricket Club

Alvanley Cricket Club, established in 1884, runs five senior teams and four junior teams ranging from under 9s to under 18s. At its high point in 2000, the club came fifth in Division One of the Cheshire County League, but a fallow period saw them fall back down to the Meller Braggins League until 2011. In 2011 the club won the League unbeaten with a record 461 points and in doing so found its way back into the County league for 2012 .[3][4]

Alvanley Cricket club won their first piece of silveware for 10 years in 2009 scoring an improbable 199/3 in 20 overs against a strong Stockport team, who fell 60 runs short in reply. The Junior Section is vibrant and in recent years has begun to challenge for County Cups, without yet actually lifting one.

2008 to 2011 saw a period of huge investment in the club's infrastructure. The club has been rewarded by the award of prestigious games such as the Bunbury Festival and Cheshire County fixtures.
