Ariel Kalil

Ariel Kalil is a Professor of Public Policy at at the University of Chicago.[1] She is a behavioral economist and developmental psychologist who studies economic conditions, parenting, and child development. She is an expert[2] in using tools from behavioral economics to influence parenting behavior, and is the co-director of the Behavioral Insights in Parenting Lab.

Kalil received her PhD in developmental psychology from the University of Michigan. She has received the William T. Grant Foundation Faculty Scholars Award, the Changing Faces of America's Children Young Scholars Award from the Foundation for Child Development, the National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship, and in 2003 she was the first-ever recipient of the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) Award for Early Research Contributions. Her current work is funded by NIH and by a number of private foundations.[1] She is a contributor to Brookings[3], Education Next[4], and Behavioral Scientist.[5] She was previously a board member of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics while at Michigan.[6]
