The Battle of Sulina was a minor confrontation between the Romanian and Ottoman Navies after Romania's entrance in World War I on the side of the Allies. In the autumn of 1916, the Ottoman cruiser Midilli attacked the Romanian port of Sulina, which was defended by the Romanian cruiser Elisabeta, then the flagship of the Romanian Navy. A brief exchange of fire followed with the Ottoman cruiser retreating after suffering light damage.[1]
