Issues

  • First and foremost issue is its being in sheopur district. Vijaypur was transferred against the wishes of its people to newly created district of sheopur in 1998 from morena district. people resent this because it is well connected and integrated with Morena than Sheopur. Even after 13 years of being in Sheopur connectivity with sheopur is very poor.
  • Secondly Vijaypur is being again neglected in the proposed upgradation of Gwalior light railway or maharaja railway from narrow gauge to broad gauge, because the line is not passing through it, which is much demanded by the people.
  • Thirdly there is no political initiative to make it a tourist destination by developing it as an attractive gateway to nearby Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary.
