Bike Share Toronto [1] is a bicycle sharing system located in Toronto, Canada. Launched as Bixi; the system was taken over by the Toronto Parking Authority in 2013 after Bixi acknowledged that it could not pay back a $3.9-million loan from the City of Toronto; and had filed for bankruptcy. [2] Bike Share Toronto is now operated by Motivate,[1] ,which operates a number of bicycle sharing systems internationally.[3]

The system was rebranded on April 1, 2014, using symbols similar to the 'Green P' logos used by the Toronto Parking Authority to mark the parking lots it manages. The system currently consists of 1,000 bicycles and 80 stations within the downtown Toronto area, which is roughly bounded by Dufferin Street, Lake Ontario, the Don River, and Bloor Street.

An expansion of the Bike share system is scheduled for spring/summer 2016,[4] which will be funded through a $4.9 million deal with Metrolinx[5] as well as $1.1 million in section 37 funds.[6]The expansion has been promised to place bike share stations at major transportation and shopping hubs across the GTHA.[7]

A sponsorship deal was announced with TD Canada Trust in December 2014, which will cover all operating costs. The support will keep Bike Share Toronto operational for at least two more years.[8] TD sponsorship advertisements started appearing at bike racks in 2015.
