The California Department of Pesticide Regulation is one of six branches of the California Environmental Protection Agency.[1]

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation regard themselves as the premier U.S. agency for pesticide regulation, the acknowledged peer of United States Environmental Protection Agency and Health Canada, and as an international authority in the field.[2]

History

California State first passed pesticide related laws in 1901. The state's pesticide regulatory program has been in operation since the early 1920s as part of the California Department of Agriculture.

The program has had the empowerment and status as an official state government department, under CalEPA, since 1991.[3]
