Carlos Eric Cavazo (born July 8, 1957) is a Mexican-born American guitarist best known as the guitarist for Quiet Riot during their commercial peak. Cavazo is originally from Mexico City where his first band—of which his brother, Antonio Cavazo, was also a member—was called Speed of Light. He and his brother, along with drummer Stephen Quadros and singer Doug Ellison, went on to create the Los Angeles band SNOW, which performed regularly at the Whisky A Go Go and the Starwood Club, as well as the Santa Monica Civic and the Pasadena Civic auditoriums. In 1980, Snow released a 10" record that received airplay on Southern California radio stations KROQ and KLOS.

His father, Roberto, originally from Mexico City, married a belle from the South and owned an energy plant. Cavazo went on to record instructional DVDs, and in recent years, has joined the Hollywood Allstarz alongside former Rainbow and Dio bassist Jimmy Bain, as well as Black Sabbath and Dio drummer Vinny Appice. He has also played with 3 Legged Dogg, and is currently with Ratt.

Quiet Riot

Replacing Randy Rhoads in the reformed Quiet Riot in 1982, he remained with the band until the band split up in 1989. He rejoined shortly after Kevin DuBrow reformed the following year, and remained until they broke up again in 2003. However, when vocalist Kevin DuBrow and drummer Frankie Banali reformed the band to record the 2006 album Rehab, Cavazo was not included.[1]

3 Legged Dogg

Cavazo was a founding member of 3 Legged Dogg, a supergroup made up of drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio, Heaven & Hell), bassist Jimmy Bain (Rainbow, Dio), vocalist Chas West (Bonham, Foreigner), and guitarist Brian Young (David Lee Roth). They released one album, Frozen Summer, in 2006.[2]

Ratt

In 2008, Cavazo replaced John Corabi as one of the guitar players in Ratt.[3] Ratt then wrote another album called Infestation.

Work in film

In 1991, Cavazo collaborated with his brother Tony and former Los Cycos guitarist Anthony Gallo for an American independent film entitled "Across the Tracks" (written and directed by Sandy Tung),[4][5] for the song "Higher," produced by Mark T. Eisenstein, Russ Castillo (Pink Floyd), and Gary Ferguson (drummer for Eddie Money).[6] It starred Brad Pitt and Rick Schroder. There was no soundtrack for the film.
