The first law school in the Philippines is the Faculty of Civil Law of the University of Santo Tomas which was founded in 1734.

As of 2007, there are 89 law schools legitimately operating and regulated by the Legal Education Board, Commission on Higher Education, Philippine Association of Law Schools, Philippine Association of Law Professors, and the Association of Law Students of the Philippines.
