Centura Health is a non-profit, faith-based health care system based in Englewood, Colorado which was formed in 1996 as a joint operating agreement between Catholic Health Initiatives and Adventist Health System.[1][2][3] The system expanded its operations into Kansas in 2011.

The System

The Centura Health network, Colorado's largest,[4] employs more than 17,100 people[5] and 6,000 physician partners across Colorado and western Kansas and includes hospitals, clinics, urgent cares, physician practices and other health care facilities. Centura Health had a net operating revenue of $2.6B in their last fiscal year.[6] Centura Health's facilities and services include Avista Adventist Hospital, Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, Centura Health at Home, Centura Regional Float Pool, Centura Senior Living and Long-Term Care, Flight For Life Colorado, Littleton Adventist Hospital, Mercy Regional Medical Center, OrthoColorado Hospital, Parker Adventist Hospital, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services (Penrose Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center), Porter Adventist Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony Mountain Clinics, St. Anthony North Hospital, St. Anthony North Medical Pavilion, Summit Medical Center, St. Catherine Hospital, St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center, St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center and St. Thomas More Hospital.[7]

Since 2009, Centura Health has evolved its "2020 Strategic Plan" to help improve the affordability, quality, consistency and availability of health care throughout the region.[8] Centura's Connected Care telehealth initiative has successfully linked Coloradans in rural areas to urban physicians using audio, video and other state-of-the-art medical technologies.[9] In 2013 Centura Health announced its "Colorado Health Neighborhoods" initiative, designed to bring the various facets of medical care - emergency room, inpatient beds, outpatient center and primary doctors - into a single location.[10]

Expansion

Since 2008, Centura Health has built new hospitals in Colorado Springs, Summit County, Parker, Lakewood, and Castle Rock. Centura has invested more than $700 million in its facilities and Colorado communities over the last 3 years.[11] Scheduled for completion in 2015, a new $177M expansion will be added to the 60,000-square-foot St. Anthony North Medical Pavilion in Westminster, CO that opened in September 2013.[12][13] Centura Health expanded its presence into Kansas in 2011 when it signed an affiliate services agreement with Goodland Regional Medical Center.[14] Two additional Kansas hospitals, St. Rose Ambulatory and Surgery Center and St. Catherine Hospital, joined the Centura Health network in 2012.[15]
