Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement

The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) is a national, member-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support services to agencies and organizations focused primarily on low to moderate income Native communities.

CNHA's primary expertise is in community development, technical assistance and training, public policy education, and the coordination of events and conferences focused on native community development issues. CNHA strives to unite the many Native Hawaiian organizations working in the community and create greater levels of collaboration among them.

CNHA's mission is to promote the advancement of Native Hawaiians through empowerment and informational initiatives.

A controversial organization, CNHA was recently named in a corruption investigation by the Office of the Inspector General concerning allegations of personal favors and the possible misuse of government funds by former Assistant Secretary for Insular Affairs Anthony Babauta, a prominent politician from Guam. Babauta's sister was employed at CNHA at the time of the multiple allegations and the aftermath of this investigation resulted in the resignation of both Anthony Babauta and CNHA's Executive Director, Robin Danner.
