DCU Mercy
DCU Mercy, called Mercy Coolock until 2007, is a women's and girls' basketball club in Coolock in Dublin. Its senior team has competed in the Irish Women's Premier League since 2005.[1] The Mercy Basketball Club was founded in 1989 by pupils of Mercy College.[1][2] Mercy Coolock won promotion to the Premier League (then called the Superleague) by winning Division 1 in 2004.[1] Mercy formed an alliance with Dublin City University (DCU) in 2007, adopting the name DCU Mercy, using DCU facilities, and featuring DCU students in the senior squad, and alongside non-students in the U20 and U18 squads.[1] DCU Mercy were the 2007 Superleague champions.[1]
DCU Ladies Basketball plays separately from DCU Mercy in intervarsity competitions, using a squad composed entirely of DCU students.[3][4]
