David C. Rapoport

David Charles Rapoport (born January 7, 1929) is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at University of California, Los Angeles, and an expert in terrorism. Since 1989 he has been editor of the scholarly journal Terrorism and Political Violence.

Biography

In 1962 Rapoport began working at University of California, Los Angeles as a political theorist and "taught the first course on terrorism" in the United States.

In 1989 he was one of the founding editors of Terrorism and Political Violence devoted to studying terrorism.

He retired in 1995 and then became the first director of the Center for the Study or Religion and also head of the Interdepartmental Major in Religion UCLA. Until 2011, Rapoport he continued teaching at UCLA, earning teaching awards.
