Government

East Mountain is under the jurisdiction of the mayor of Waterbury. There is an East Mountain Community Club which provides an outlet for residents to voice their ideas/concerns. There was a push 20 years ago for East Mountain to separate from Waterbury and form its own town; however, many residents were not on board with the idea and the city retained the area.
