Egon August Aghta (29 January 1918 – 2 May 1945) was a highly decorated Hauptmann in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves (German: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub). The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Egon Aghta was a bomb disposal technician and was responsible for defusing unexploded ordnance. He was killed by Soviet troops during the Battle of Berlin.
