English National Ballet School is a specialist classical ballet school based in London in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1988, the school is the official associate school of English National Ballet, with many graduates becoming dancers with the company. Recognised as one of the leading classical ballet schools in the UK, the school is run independently from the company, under the direction of Anu Giri & Delia Barker.

Overview

English National Ballet School is an independent, co-educational school for students aged 16–19 years, who seek to pursue a career in professional classical ballet. The course is a 3-year programme of study that leads to a further education qualification, placed at Level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework.[1] The National Diploma in Professional Dance is validated by Trinity College, London and was established to recognise the high standard of training at some of the United Kingdom's leading institutions and as a result, is equivalent to Higher Education qualifications such as the Higher National Diploma. The school is also one of only 21 schools in the United Kingdom selected to offer government funded Dance and Drama Awards. In 2008 the School was described as an 'outstanding provider' of professional dance education by OFSTED, the UK Government inspecting body.

Graduate destinations include employment with major ballet companies worldwide. Many students of the school are successful in achieving a place with English National Ballet, with 35% of the dancers in the company having been trained at the school. Some graduates also find employment in contemporary dance, jazz dance and musical theatre

English National Ballet School presents end of year performances and also offers summer, spring and day courses for those wishing for an insight into preparing for life in a present-day ballet company.

English National Ballet School has an associate programme, ENBS Juniors, for girls and boys aged 3 and up.
