Eugene Scalia (born August 14, 1963)[1] is a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm Gibson Dunn LLP and son of United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia.[2]

Scalia was an undergraduate at the University of Virginia and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School.

Professional

He previously served as the solicitor (chief legal officer) of the Department of Labor, having been appointed by U.S. president George W. Bush in April 2001 and taken the position in January 2002 following a recess appointment by Bush.[3] He was criticized by Democratic Senators as being hostile to workers and for articles he wrote which criticized ergonomics.[4]

Scalia argued the winning side in Wal-Mart v. Maryland in July 2006.[5]
