The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) is a public school corporation serving Evansville, Indiana and Vanderburgh County. It is the third largest school district in the state of Indiana, behind Indianapolis Public Schools and Fort Wayne Community Schools and the largest in Southern Indiana. The headquarters are located on Walnut Street in downtown Evansville. The school district serves nearly 23,000 students educated by more than 1,600 teachers.

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation comprises 37 different schools – 17 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 4 K-8 schools, and 9 high schools.

On November 4, 2008 voters approved a $149 million bond issue for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, which paid for the new North High school and a list of other projects.[2]

Chief of Staff

  • Rodolfo Montejano is the corporation's Chief of Staff. As such, he is the second in charge in the absence of the superintendent and heads up the development areas; safety and security; and legal matters.

Associate Superintendent

  • Dr. Cathlin Gray is the Associate Superintendent of the Center for Family, School and Community Partnerships

Chief Academic Officer

  • Velinda Stubbs is the corporation's Chief Academic Officer. She, along with the instruction team, intervention team and the deputy chief academic officer, are working to bring about change and improvements to the instruction and ultimate success of EVSC's students.

Chief Financial Officer

  • Carl Underwood is the EVSC Chief Financial Officer and has been charged with finding ways for the corporation to save money, and helping the corporation to be more transparent in regard to its financial structure.

Consolidation

The Evansville School Corporation and the Vanderburgh County School Corporation, which consisted of all schools serving residents outside the Evansville city limits at that time, merged in 1958.
