While astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin descended in the Lunar Module (LM) "Eagle" to explore the Sea of Tranquility region of the Moon, astronaut Michael Collins, command module pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules (CSM) "Columbia" in lunar orbit.
- Variations: The upper black band is an addition to the original photo, carried out for "reasons of balance". Seeing original photo and explanation of the trucaje in the <a rel="nofollow" class="external text" href="http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/a11/a11-5903history.html">Link</a>. In the version expanded of the photography is possible to see a horizontal white line in the left upper part (right of the person that contemplates the photography) of the helmet. Is the base of the antenna, that was cut in the original setting of the photography.
