Summary

Beach lifeguards and swimming/surfing areas at Harlyn Bay. Red and yellow flags mark the area for swimming and small surfboards, black and white flags mark the area for surfing on Malibu boards. On this beach there are several hundred metres between high and low tide, so it is best for the lifeguards to sit in a vehicle to watch the bathers. The beach lifeguard service has been part of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) for the last few years, see www.beachlifeguards.org.uk .
