DDR-Ministerpräsident Lothar de Maiziere (CDU/links) hat sich für gesamtdeutsche Wahlen bereits am 14. Oktober 1990 ausgesprochen. Am selben Tag finden in der DDR die Landtagswahlen statt. De Maiziere nannte den Termin auf einer Pressekonferenz in Ost-Berlin. Nach den bisherigen Planungen sollte das gesamtdeutsche Parlament am 2. Dezember 1990 gewählt werden.
