Rügen, border police of the GDR
Central Image/Dt. Border Police 23.11.1956 10 Years of the German Border Police On December 1, 1956, the German Border Police celebrates its 10th anniversary. The service of our border police officers is tough, heavy and dangerous. But they joyfully serve at the borders of the German Democratic Republic day and night, in every weather. Even some agents and saboteur who wanted to disturb the peaceful construction in our GDR could be arrested by the attention of the comrades of the border police and brought to his just punishment. We would therefore like to thank all members of the German Border Police for their sacrificial service to the protection of our GDR on their day of Honour.
