File:Chrono Trigger original characters.jpg
Summary
This is concept artwork that was developed by Square (now Square Enix) in the development of the video game Chrono Trigger. The image, drawn by Masato Kato, depicts early versions of the main characters and is dated April 8, 1993. It was shown in the Chrono Trigger Ultimania Guide, page 584, published by Square Enix.
The sketches are prototype designs for the characters from the game. From left to right: Marle, Robo, Frog, Lucca, Crono, Magus, Ayla, and an old man (assumed perhaps to be Gaspar, the old man from the End of Time).
Underneath the Chrono sketch reads 主人公 Shujinkou, or "Main Character". Above the Robo sketch reads ブリキ・ロボ Buriki Robo, or "Tin Robot". Underneath Magus' picture is a variation on 魔王 Maou, meaning "Demon King".
