File:Negative differential resistance.svg
Summary
The current-voltage or IV curve of a device with negative differential resistance. This type is called voltage controlled negative resistance (VCNR) or N-type because the graph is shaped vaguely like the letter N. The current increases with voltage (positive resistance), then decreases with voltage in the region of negative resistance, then increases with voltage again. Electronic devices with this type of negative resistance include tunnel diodes and Gunn diodes.
