Summary
Illustrating the process of classifying a pan-genome. Sequence data is collected from multiple strains of a microbe species; these strains may be pathogenic or not. Once the data is collected, a pan-genome can be assembled. There are three principle classifications of genes in a pan-genome : core genes, strain-specific genes and disposable genes.
