The image was taken from the <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Plaza_de_Col%C3%B3n,_Madrid" title="Category:Plaza de Colón, Madrid">Plaza de Colón</a> ("Columbus Square"). The building was projected by architect <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Jare%C3%B1o" class="extiw" title="en:Francisco Jareño">Francisco Jareño</a> (1818–1892) and built between 1866 and 1892. The column before the building is the <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Monument_to_Christopher_Columbus,_Madrid" title="Category:Monument to Christopher Columbus, Madrid">monument to Columbus</a> (inaugurated in 1892).
