| Description |
Official emblem of the Government of Kerala, India The State emblem of Kerala depicts two elephants guarding the State and national insignias. The state emblem is derived from the coat of arms of Travancore-Cochin. The elephant denotes the supremacy and power and the state has the largest number of captive elephants. The centre of the emblem shows the shankhu of Sree Padmanabha, the national deity of the erstwhile Kingdom of Travancore. The crest is surrounded by a laurel wreath, over which India's national emblem, the Sarnath Lion Capital, is found. Two banners underneath state "Kerala Sarkar" in the Malayalam Aryalipi script and its translation "Government of Kerala" in English. Underneath these is the inscription in Sanskrit, "Satyameva Jayate" (meaning Truth Alone Triumphs), the national motto of India. |
