Summary
The Word of Life is a large mural on the side of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Hesburgh_Library" class="extiw" title="w:Theodore Hesburgh Library">Theodore Hesburgh Library</a> depicting the resurrected <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus" class="extiw" title="w:Jesus">Jesus</a>. Designed by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millard_Sheets" class="extiw" title="w:Millard Sheets">Millard Sheets</a>, it was installed in 1964 as a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Howard V. Phalin. Stemming from the fashion in which Jesus' arms are raised and its visibility from <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre_Dame_Stadium" class="extiw" title="w:Notre Dame Stadium">Notre Dame Stadium</a>, the mural has become popularly known as "Touchdown Jesus".
